Lead Engineer - Desktop

Location: Mumbai, Bangalore

As a Lead Engineer - Desktop, you will work on the clientside of our worldclass real time communication platform. You will leverage the latest technologies (HTML5, Javascript, v8 engine, ajax, node.js, XMPP, BOSH/Comet) and application paradigms (web apps on the desktop) to create a beautiful client that runs seamlessly on windows, mac, chrome, ffox, IE, safari etc.

At talk.to you will work with world class dev teams to revolutionize the world of real time communication. The product suite comprises of mobile and desktop clients, servers and encompasses myriad technologies, diverse platforms and complex algorithms.

You will participate in the entire development lifecycle, including strategy, vision, design, coding, architecture, deployment etc.

Skills

• 4+ years of software engineering experience
• Advanced knowledge of HTML5 / CSS3 / JavaScript
• Good knowledge of any one datastore eg MySql, Sqlite, Mongo, Postgres, SQL Server etc
• Good knowledge of one or more of - network programming, XMPP, BOSH, Comet, REST
• Familiarity with any version control systems eg Git, Mercurial, Subversion, CVS
• Basic knowledge of scalability
• Knowledge of Unit testing, Functional testing and CI tools and frameworks

• You have a solid grasp on programming fundamentals including algorithms, data structures, I/O, concurrency, networking, OO principles
• You are not rigid with respect to choice of technology
• You have good oral/written communication skills
• You are innately curious, and take time out to keep up with industry trends

• You keep little photographs of Doug Crockford and Brendan Eich in your wallet.
• You think closures and anonymous self-executing inner-functions can solve most of the world's problems.
• You truly understand what "this" is, and you have an opinion about whether it's a good thing or a bad thing.
• You've lapped up both of Steve Souders books, and you tweak your code and web-servers obsessively.
